Since our new leaderboard launch, we’ve received a ton of positive feedback from our amazing community of investors. A few folks have questions about how the ranking system works and how they can climb the leaderboard to increase their loyalty rewards.
- Invest in higher quality assets. We take the total value of your assets into account in our ranking system. If you are purchasing higher quality assets, they’ll retain their value over time.
- Diversify your portfolio. Diversification is one of the most powerful ways to build a healthy portfolio. By diversifying, you can reduce your risk without giving up healthy gains in this alternative asset market. When you take into account risk-adjusted returns, diversification pays off big.
- Take a long-term approach. Investors are people who buy and hold assets. Traders are people who buy low and sell high. There’s nothing wrong with either approach, but Beam is an investor network and we weigh the length of time you’ve been a member registered on Beam. As an investor you should be thinking about the fundamentals of the projects you’re investing in. Fundamental analysis includes considerations for the team, roadmap, technology, community, execution, economics (for more info on this topic, see our guide). Sell your “trades”, and buy into longer term positions to climb our INVESTOR leaderboard.
How we calculate your Beam Score
(Assets Rank * .8) + (Diversification Rank * .15) + (Seniority Rank * .05) = Beam Score.
The lower the better.
We developed BEAM with social network capabilities. If you have questions about how some of our top investors made it to where they are, send them a private message! Here’s a few questions you could ask them –
Which assets are you invested in, and why?
Which mistakes have you made and learned from?
Are there any projects you are considering investing in?
Don’t be afraid to take advantage of your peer network. I’ve found most people are more than willing to help. The blockchain community is an especially friendly place filled with eager innovators who love to share their lessons learned.
